A week or so ago, I was talking about yakisoba with a friend, and we realized that we both prefer to get our soba from small cheap places than from nice restaurants. It just seems to be better. Not like mall food court, or anything. But of all the japanese restaurants in the city, I like the soba made from the little hole in the wall place the best. When I lived in Boston, I got my soba from Sab's Grill and Sushi, in the Garage in Harvard Square (sort of like a slightly higher quality food court).
Has anyone else found this to be true? For what kind of foods? Why do you think this is?
