We just decided to have a "champagne toast" at a fundraiser I'm coordinating next weekend.
I'll need to buy seven cases of champagne/sparkling wine and hope to stay around the $15/bottle range. Given that it's a fundraiser, I want to stay around this price point but of course don't want to pour anything that would be unacceptable.
A few wine shops/warehouses (I'm in Chicago) have made some recommendations that included:
-- Roederer Estate Anderson Valley Brut
-- Mumm Napa "Cuvee M" Napa Valley
-- Dom. Chandon NV Brut Classic
Right now I'm leaning towards the Roederer, which received 89 from WS and the store has at $14.99/btl (170.89/case).
I'd greatly appreciate your feedback on these offerings and any others that may be appropriate.
