2001 Atlantic Ave, Brooklyn, NY
I am compelled to post.
I first stopped in 2-3 months ago and have been back 4-5 times since. Its a long trip for me, but worth it. Looks like a regular corner market from the outside but carries a lot of items that I haven't seen anywhere else in NYC. Like a museum of porcine oddities.
Country ham, liver pudding (like a spiced-up scrapple), souse (surprisingly delicious), dry-cured bacon, smoked hog jowls, C-loaf (I haven't worked up the nerve for this one yet) and some of the tastier sausages I've found in the city. Also some good canned items that can be hard to find; pickled okra, boiled peanuts, etc. Everything I've had has been excellent.
Definitely not for everyone, but if you like that sort of thing, I haven't found anyplace even close. (Which isn't to say they don't exist)
Really nice people working there. Highly recommended.
