Had I known about Chowhound I would have posted this long ago. Hopefully, it's not too late.
Has anyone had the Camphor Tea Smoked Duck from "China Peace" which used to be on 46th street between Broadway and 6th Ave? This place has mediocre everything else, but blew everyone else away with this dish. It was with this dish that I converted many non-duck eaters. I've had the same dish(in name) from Wu Liang Ye, Shun-Lee, Grand Sichuan, Empire Sichuan..and countless other places. None can compare with its juicy, fleshy meat, crispy skin, and unique aroma. Come to think of it, there is only one other place that has Tea smoked duck like this: "Dumpling King" on Westheimer and Hilcroft in Houston, TX.
I don't think "China Peace" exist any more. If anyone know the whereabouts of the chef, or whoever holds the recipe to this particular Tea Smoked Duck, I'd really appreciate the info!
