Campari + Antica Formula + Tequila

starzzz | Apr 13, 201807:49 PM     6

I have made the classic Negroni with equal parts of Campari + Antica Formula Vermouth + Tanqueray 10 stirred and poured on ice, with an addition of an orange wheel in my glass. Initial impressions were not bad be it somewhat still sweet.

I decided to change things and substituted the gin for Don Julio 1942 Tequilla and I must say the Tequilla flavor really comes out with an amazing refreshing flavor . (At this point I understand it’s not a Negroni no more)

Some might argue why waste an expensive Tequilla on a mixer and the truth of the matter is, although I don’t mind it straight, I also don’t love it! It is sitting in a cupboard and at least this way it will be consumed!

On that point, are there any suggestions for an alternate Tequilla or Mezcal once the Don Julio runs out?

Any suggestions for an alternate gin that will rock my socks off? T 10 I must say in a gin and tonic is amazing but I suspect not the best for Negronis.

Thanks and enjoy!
