Camp 31 - Don't understand....

Ok, so everyone was raving how Camp 31 had the best ribs in Ontario... so I had a business trip to Cambridge yesterday and thought I would pop by and bring some back to Toronto and try it with some buddies..

Ordered: 2 Apps: Onion Chips, Riblets, 1 Sandwhich: Pulled Pork with Beans, and the 3 Item combo in which I got brisket, baby back & memphis ribs, slaw and cornbread.

The Onion chips were the highlight of the meal spicy batter, the onions were not cut into rings but were quartered to produce bigger flat chunks .. very nice...

The riblets were described on the menu as the rib "ends" but it seems they were the big ends because they were full size ribs!separated and covered in a sweet sauce. No bad but by no means riblets...

As for the Pulled Pork and beans I cannot comment as they did not give it to me!!! the container that I figured it was in just held two measly peices of hard over cooked corn bread... :-(

Brisket I did not even taste as it was a grey hue with that purple florecent sheen that prepackaged beef has other peices were tottally dried out... not appetizing at all.

The St Louis ribs were cooked to "Fall of the bone" which I was not expecting and also has a very sweet sauce. They were juicy but really had no smoke flavour at all (actually nothing I tried had any remote smokiness to it). But I did enjoy the ribs but they were very much like my mom makes in the oven...

Finally the Baby Back.. these were a bit dried out and again no smokey taste, pretty much fall of the bone.. and no real sauce to desribe...

All in all I have to say that Baton Rougue/ Swiss Chalet ribs are pretty much in line with the ribs I had at Camp 31 and there is no way I would recomend any body making a trip that far away for these. They may do them different at the competitions but the restaurant is not worth the drive to Paris....
