Can you believe I have never tried any of the chinese restaurants in Flushing out of intimidation. So, I beg of you to please lend your trustful suggestions. My wife and I LOVE Sun Lok Kee in Chinatown (Manhattan) for Scallops in Hot Sauce, and any seafood in Black bean sauce, and their killer salt and pepper Squid. We are not really into dim sum, or pork, and in general we are not that adventurous when it comes to Asian food. We are regular customers at Sripaphai but we eat shrimp and chicken dishes, and like it very much. So, please help us get over our FEAR OF FLUSHING...We read through ALL the posts for flushing, and find now that it is too late to go out tonight, but as soon as we hear your recent reccomendations, we will try.
According to what we read, Chao Zhou was mentioned, but with very little detail, and Sweet N tart (which seemed more about dim sum). KB Garden also mentioned for dim sum, and Joe's Shanghai for crab buns, but many also said they didn't like it too much and overpriced. The post about the Rats at Grand Schezuan by Lisa Antinore was downright scary, and so we ask for some current info for Flushing greats.
