I'd like to ask your help to look into something I've found -- or rather, what I haven't found -- in Mauviel's history.
Mauviel 1830 says, clearly and repeatedly, that the company was founded in 1830 by Ernest Mauviel, Valerie Le Guern-Gilbert's 7th-generation ancestor. The thing is, French historical records don't support this. Here's what I found: there was no Ernest Mauviel in 1830, because he wasn't born until 1855; the company "Mauviel" in 1830 was most likely "Mauviel-Villain," founded by Jean Francois Mauviel, who really is Valerie's 7th-generation ancestor; and Mauviel 1830 the company today began in 1850 as Mauviel-Tetrel, and continued by Ernest Mauviel in 1880 as Establissements Mauviel-Gautier Freres. That's the firm that Valerie's grandfather Armand inherited and that I believe was renamed Etablissements Mauviel in 1970.
Would you guys do me a favor and check my work on this? I wrote it all up with links out to the genealogy. I'm not a genealogist myself so I may be interpreting the data incorrectly and I'd really appreciate some critical inquiry from the Chowhound hive mind. If you think this checks out, I may reach out to Mauviel to get the full story.
Thank you in advance!
