Cafe Rustica

babette | Feb 8, 2006 03:58 PM

I just stopped at Cafe Rustica (Is that even the name?) on Beacon St in Somerville for only the second time in their existence because I was driving by at 3:55, STARVED after missing lunch, and remembered that I had a chicken salad sandwich there that was very good.

The lights were on, the sign said closed at 4pm. Whomever waved me in (owner?) said he had plenty of chicken salad left, and was happy to make me a sandwich. He sang me a song while making it up, and told me that usually he's there late cleaning up and that he'd gladly make a sandwich after closing. I haven't had service so pleasant in a long time.

The sandwich was better than I remembered -- it was divine! The best chicken salad I've ever had. Beautiful blend of herbs, soft scali roll. And HUGE. I will certainly stop in more frequently now.
