We just had a good but not great dinner there. A very nice margarita and excellent starters: their corn pancakes, which are light and flavorful and entirey satisfying--really worth the price of admission--,and a well constructed heirloom tomato salad w/ lettuce and fresh corn and toasted seeds (not sure what kind, but a wonderful touch), with a pleasant dressing. Then downhill (not precipitously, but some). The waiter dashed our entrees onto the table, without noticing that our glasses were empty (we had to hail another server for a Negro Modelo). And the entrees were just OK. Paella that didn't come together, tasting almost as if the fish were prepared over here and the rice over there, mixed together at the last moment--and the rice wasn't very saffron-y, lacked the depth I associate w/ a fine paella. The green mole was sort of dull. We shared a chocolate kahlua mousse for dessert, and that was again well done, w/ roasted almonds and kahlua whipped cream as a first-rate counterpoint in taste in texture. Perhaps the better way to have gone would have been to do more of a tapas meal, with several staters.
