Bun Cha grill fish + others at Pho Thien Long @ San Jose

Han Lukito | Jan 19, 200406:10 PM

The superb bun cha grilled fish was already posted sometime ago. It is basically a boneless catfish? with tumeric based spices grilled on a bed of dills and green onion. It is just awesome. Costs like $15 but the cheaper $7.50 dish had a lot less fish in a little bowl mixed with grilled pork. As I mentioned this dish was one my great finds of the year 2003. We should have great finds section for 2003.

Then I ordered Pho Ap Chao Don which was basically mixed vegs (sliced carrots, onions, pineapple?) , sliced and criss crossed calamaris and plump shrimps doused in a thick brown tasty sauce. The kicker was the thick fried rice noodle which is unusual and very tasty with that broth. It had lots of wok flavor due to large surface area of the thick fun noodles. Nice dish.
