Had to laugh at Chuck S schlepping bagels home from H & H in NY as well as lox from Zabar's. Have done exactly the same thing myself, on planes from NY to whatever city I was living in. Have also had Gino's East pizza from Chicago as my carry on luggage, (happy to see you have Uno's here), barbecue (brisket, of course) from Austin, a muffeleta from New Orleans, and sourdough bread from San Francisco. Obviously, this was in the days when less attention was paid to carry on bags than occurs today. Now that I am somewhat settled in Waltham, I will be traveling to NY once a month, or so, and expect to bring a trunk full of goodies back. Wondering what delicacies other hounds encountered on trips, felt they couldn't get here, and found impossible to leave behind?
