With a meeting scheduled across the street, today was my morning to check out Bright Coffee in New Monterey. It shares a storefront with retailer, Lilify. Lots of dark wood inside, making this quite a noir environment in the morning.
Baked goods are made by its affiliate, Cafe Lumiere http://cafelumieremonterey.com/ and my cappuccino used Red Bear espresso beans from Seattle and very rich Straus organic whole milk. High marks for both. My barely sweetened blueberry scone, $3.00, was short and buttery with a fragile crisp crust and crumbly interior. The capp, $3.50, was fat and assertive with sweet chocolatey tones and no bitter edges. No latte art on the silky foam, but the ceramic mug lent some design character.
