Brazilian in Riverside

Brian Yarvin | May 16, 200406:52 PM

This afternoon I was driving up Route 130 and decided to get off the big road and see if I could drive along the Deleware River. (this is north of Camden and south of Trenton)

At one point, I hit a town called Riverside. It was kind of bleak and run down and had a huge, abandoned looking factory in the center. But instead of the usual pizza and baked goods that these towns offer, there was at least two Brazilian places with signs in Portuguese!

I tried to stop but both were closed. In addition, there were other stores with Brazilian flags in their storefronts and more Portuguese in their signs. A shock and a mystery.

What brought them here? It's not really near any city and I just know too little about the area to even speculate.

There must be some story!
