Borough Market, London

Arrived back home last Saturday from my two weeks in England. I'm a still a bit addled from the trip but wanted to get this down before forgetting, since I didn't make any notes. I was reminded while unpacking and finding a beautiful scallop shell.

The Borough Market in London is amazing. Do not miss it. It's open Friday and Saturday, selling produce, fruit and berries, honey, bread, cheese and all kinds of meat, fish and poultry, etc. Inside the main entrance a little way (on the right) is a woman grilling scallops. She has also grilled some julienned vegetables and loose sausage meat, chroizo, perhaps. Into a large scallop shell she spoons the vegetables, sausage. and tops with three perfectly grilled scallops (with the orange roe still attached). Squeeze some lemon over all. This is just a snack, but without a doubt the most delicious food I put in my mouth during my trip.

There's plenty to choose from in prepared food at the Market. The ice cream stands were terrific too.

Fri. hours, 12-6, Sat., 9-4. London Bridge tube stop.
