Can anyone tell me about Bohemian Hall & Park in Astoria? Citysearch and Bohemian's answering machine mentions "Saturdays by appointment only." I've tried calling to no avail. Is it possible to just drop by for a drink on Saturdays? Or are they closed to the public? Any advice and info would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.
In the meanwhile, I'll offer my most recent dinner at Brasserie. Go for the well-designed space and the short ribs pot-au-feu. It was quivering and gelatinous when it arrived at the table, and fell off the bone when I inserted my fork. Though undersalted, it did come with a platter of accompaniments, a dish of salt being one. My dining companion had the steak frites, and my hands were quite busy alternating between the short ribs and dunking those perfect fries into the rich bèarnaise. Yum.
Dessert was the much touched chocolate beignets. My tastebuds aren't sophisticated enough for bitter dark chocolate, so I scraped the offending goop off of the pastry, which was delicious.
