Blue Ribbon Park Slope - somewhat disappointed!

Experienced Blue Ribbon Park Slope last night and had a very mediocre meal. Service started out fine, and then she seemed to disappear, after our entrees were delivered. The leeks were very good, and oysters were okay - I have had better sauces (Patois and Crave certainly a lot more interesting). The portions were huge. I wasn't expecting the New Orleans shrimp to come out as 3 jumbo prawns! The lamb I ordered wasn't that great either,as the sauce/gravy had a very offputting flour taste. My boyfriend had the surf and turf and for the price, I think it was a pretty good deal. And as the name implies, certainly nothing fancy. I don't like to complain, but I was expecting higher quality food, given that it was voted best food in the area (I don't recall the year, though). I probably should have suspected that by having a huge amount of appetizers and entrees, etc. to pick from, that less care is taken. Or we just ordered completely the wrong things. I guess I was too optimistic. I did like the atmosphere/decor. The most annoying thing was the host with glasses coming around to every table and repeating the same thing, "I'm sorry to interrupt you, but I wanted to check to see how your entrees were okay". The same statement to every table - he sounded programmed. Perhaps it was just a bad night, but I don't think we had anything worth returning for.
