Blue Ox Gone?

Paul | Feb 12, 2005 08:08 AM

My wife and I went to one of our favorite neighborhood restaurants last night, the Blue Ox, in (nearby) Olney. As we approached, there seemed to be some construction going on out front--the sign was being replaced. But, the restaurant seemed to be open. When we looked in, the restaurant looked pretty much normal, except for the addition of white table cloths. That was not normal. Then, we noticed the little sign. The Blue Ox was gone, and in its place, the Sol Azteca, billed as a Mexican/Tex-Mex restaurant. The menu clearly had a Peruvian influence. It wasn't bad (although I am not sure why you would want white table cloths with chips and salsa), and the service was EXTREMELY enthusiastic, if somewhat inexperienced. I had a mixed seafood dish that included shrimp, squid, and mussles, that was quite good, and my wife had chicken, which she also enjoyed. Nevertheless, what happened to the Blue Ox? Is it gone forever? Will it reopen in another form nearby? Does anyone know?
