I recently posted a negative review of Blue Hill and I would like to critique some other Manhattan restaurants. We were in Tribeca and walked into Montrachet for a dinner. We had been there several times before and always had great experiences there. Pleasant atmosphere, professional service, outstanding wine list and excellent food. Far superior to Blue Hill but no one ever mentions this 20 year old spot on this board. Not trendy enough, I guess.
Went to Gramercy Tavern for a dinner. What an absolute stunning venue. We found the service and food even better than Montrachet. Wonderful dining experience. Coffee cake to take home! Only one small criticism. Rolls and butter not as good as Montrachet. Had their campari grapefruit cocktail as an apertif. The bartender kindly gave us the recipe, it was that good.
Had a Sunday dinner at Ping's Seafood in Chinatown. Great shrimp, eggplant, and green peppers in a curry sauce.
We envy all you New York Chowhounds for the incredible variety of cuisine and restaurants that you have available. We are very happy to be here and are enjoying "The Moveable Feast"
