Blue Asia Cafe in Allston - short report

eatanddestroy | Jan 25, 201001:32 PM

I rarely start posts, but since no one has mentioned this place yet, I thought that I'd go for it.

Checked out Blue Asia Cafe over the weekend, and, like too many places in Allston, it was fantastic. Everything on the menu is less than $10, and most are around $8.

I tried the Fried Chinese Red Wine Pork Belly over rice and the Fried Tenderloin Pork with Apple Curry over rice. The pork belly wasn't as fatty and crispy like I expected, but it was really good. It tasted more like fatty, tender pork slices. The fried pork tenderloin had a great fry, and the sauce was delicious. What made the meals even better is that our plates were packed full of sides that came with the dish. The belly had ground meat and a light sauce over the rice, a fried egg, and a side of a vegetarian dish that I have no idea what it was, but it was sort of noodle like.

Disclaimer: Friends of friends own this place (but I have never met them and wouldn't say the food was good if it wasn't).
