Black's BBQ...a religious experience indeed!

John | Aug 8, 2003 12:42 PM

Thanks to some dead-on recommendations from Robby and Scott (both active contributors to this board), my wife and I are now worshipping at a new Texas BBQ altar...Black's, just outside of Austin.

After a recent trip to DFW, where we thought the world of Railhead's BBQ in Fort Worth, the two Texas chowhounders guided me to an even higher place. From here in Florida, we had several pounds of brisket, sausage and ribs FEDEXed to us in Orlando. Sounds like an old MASH episode, no? Worth EVERY penny!

Oy, what an experience! Absolutely, bar-none, the BEST BBBQ we have ever had the pleasure of sitting down to. Turth be told,as soon as it arrived, we tore open the FEDEX and proceeeded to ravage right from the package, standing in our driveway, with our neighbors looking on cautiously! Talk about primal! Had to give one to the poor FEDEX guy too! We had a very SELECT group of friends over that night and marveled at the taste and texture! Superior. A right of passage. A life altering event. Thanks, guys.

Now, if I can ease my family and employer into the idea of establishing a branch office in Austin and life will be in alignment...a sense of "BBQ Feng Shui", if you will.

Thanks, Texas for the wonderful hospitality...and thank you Black' you've got us hooked, so keep it coming.
