Bistro Basia - Cal/French in Palo Alto

There have been a lot of new restaurants opening up on California Ave. in Palo Alto lately. Bistro Basia on California at Park is a very welcome new addition, adding a nice Cal/French option to Bistro Elan on the other end of the street. Everything we had was excellent, including the baby green salad, smoked duck salad, salmon filet with melted leeks, petrale sole with capers, apricot souffle, and tarte tatin. The apricot souffle was probably the absolute highlight.

The wine list is very nicely selected including a number of good half bottle choices. Prices are similar to Bistro Elan, but the place is quieter (not quiet, but quieter) making it more pleasant for conversation.
