I was privileged to be taken to the Bistro 5 Farmers' Market Tasting Dinner Monday night, and it was amazing.
Almost everything used in the meal was organic and local. For example, the produce for the meal came from the farmers market in Central Square that afternoon. The quail came from a supplier in Vermont, who sells fresh, not frozen, game birds. The wines were all either completely organic (no sulfur) or from organic grapes, and unlike almost every other organic wine I've had, these were really good. The high points of the menu for me were the roasted lamb, the whole baby zucchini deep-fried with the blossom on, and the blueberry sorbet. Everything was intensely flavored.
Apparently, in addition to having these occasional tasting dinner evenings (complete with a "guess the grape" contest) they also have a set farmers' market tasting menu available every night in the summer. I highly recommend it.
