Bistro 222

Finally, a place in the Entertainment District and semi Queen West 'hood where one can get a nice meal in a non-chain restaurant. Bistro 222 is located at 222 Richmond St. West, west of Simcoe. I attended a party there last night and was blown away by the quality of the food and the presentation.

This is a thin room with an open kitchen. I didn't even know of its existence as it is lost among the cool clubs and Yuk Yuks. Whenever I go to King Street for theatre, I'm always at a loss for where to go and now I have found the place.

I had the grilled lamb chops, done medium rare. They were delicious. If I had not been among such dignified company, I would have picked up the bones and gnawed on them a bit. It came with grilled vegetables and mashed potatoes. The average cost of entrees is around $20. You're in more capable hands here than at Montana's or even Milestones.

Hope that other chowhounds go and check this place out. This is a place for grownups and you will be able to hear your dinner companions' conversations. It is not a loud, obnoxious loung.

A small resto needs support. I will return.
