New Birthday Plan: Sichuan Garden in Brookline

Dave M.P. | Dec 13, 2004 08:16 PM

I stopped by Sichuan Garden just now to take a look at the menu and talk to them about their hot pot special. After reading responses to my post yesterday, as well as some posts from last April, I think I have decided to have my dinner at Sichuan Garden (not Brasilian). The hot pot special is $16.95 per person, the pot can apparantly be split between the spicy broth and the regular broth. Probably we will order the hot pot for 1/2 or 2/3 of the people, then get a few other dishes as well (there may be vegetarians or other non-beef/seafood/ etc. eaters).

What other dishes should I try? I have never eaten at Sichuan Garden before. I have the takeout menu, which I THINK includes the special chinese dishes, although I am not convinced. Some examples:

Chengdu Dry Hot Chicken
Double Cooked Fresh Bacon with Spicy Capsicum
Stir Fried Prawns with Chengdu Spiced Chili Cucumber
etc. etc.

Is this it? (there are special appetizers too) I wish I read chinese (I should learn).

Which is the shrimp dish that people often mention on this board?

If anyone has any advice about Sichuan Garden, please let me know. I am excited for this meal already though.

I will obviously post after the meal next week to let everyone know how it was.
