I used to make Benita's Frites a destination when I was in the vicinity of Santa Monica's Third Street Promenade. One day to my disappointment, I discovered it had disappeared.
I've since heard it's moved to Universal City Walk. My search on SmartPages doesn't turn it up. The only two hits Yahoo! gives me are for the old address.
1) Does anyone know if it does, in fact, still exist?
B) If so, where is it located?
III) Are the frites as good as ever?
For the uninitiated this place served one thing: French fries. To be more precise they served Belgian fries. They tasted heavenly and each was perfectly cooked. Apparently they fried them twice -- once at a low-ish temperature to cook them through, then, the second time at a high-ish temperature to crisp and brown them -- right when you ordered them so they were perfect just for you. They served them with your choice of a myriad of dipping sauces, the favorite of which was the classic Belgian go-with, garlic mayonnaise. Sounds weird if you haven't tried it. In reality -- potato nirvana.
