Bellingham: First (and last?) trip to Cliff House

laurachow | Dec 20, 201411:29 AM     6

I've lived in B'ham since 1984 (except for a few years on and off), and I'd never been to the Cliff House. So, when co-workers wanted to hit Happy Hour we checked it out. What a huge disappointment!
Whiskey Crab Soup: Was it supposed to have crab in it? I couldn't find any. It was not good on any level--flavor or ingredients.
Mojito: Probably the worst I've had. Super syrupy sweet, missing that light fruity, minty, bite.
Beet Salad with Goat Cheese Croutons: The beets were undercooked and bland (and I LOVE beets, any and all beets), the two little goat cheese croutons were burnt and the coating on them was heavy and not well seasoned.

So for all those years, I guess I wasn't missing much. I might be tempted to go back for Happy Hour on the deck in the summer, but all I'd order is either beer or wine since I'm pretty sure they can't mess that up.

Did this place used to be good, or has it always been dependent on the view?
