Beef Stew at Kam Po (HK) Kitchen - SF Chinatown

gordon wing | Mar 13, 200504:28 AM

Had lunch with my mother with the locals at Kam Po Kitchen on Broadway (@ Powell St.) This is a real hole in the wall, frequented mainly by locals who can appreciate the good value offerred here.
They have roast meats, soups, noodles, rice plates, etc.... We had the beef stew rice plate for $3.50 and a plate of gailan with oyster sauce for $3 or $3.25, I think. It was enought food for us to share and not go away hungry. My grandmother used to be a regular here - she always ordered the beef stew/tendon because they cook it long enough to be tender and they don't give you lots of daikon when you order the beef stew. The gailan was just the tips and quite tender. You can also order the beef stew to go at the counter - or duck or roast's very busy at lunch time but things open up after lunch.....
