From Beantown to Dahntahn: A Pittsburgh Inquiry

It looks like I'll be making several business trips to Pittsburgh in the near future, staying near the Convention Center. I poked through some old threads; the only "musts" I can gather so far are:

-Pamela's for Pancakes
-The Original for dogs and fries
-Primanti Bros for sammiches with fries and slaw on them (I won't forget the camera. I'm not sure I believe people actually do this and I want proof!)

Any other Chowhound winners?

Should I assume that the area around the Convention Center is, in general, un-chow? Can somebody suggest something in the area that's a candidate for "surprise favorite?"

Thanks in advance; I look forward to the visit!

PS - I will NOT have a car, but a moderate cab ride is acceptable.
