I'm attending a meeting in RTP on a thursday, meeting will end by 4pm, flight is at 8pm, I'm thinking I have time for dinner. I've eaten a lot of bbq in nc/sc, occasionally cook in bbq contests and have served as judge in a bunch. Would prefer eastern nc style, is anyone cooking whole hog over wood? I've not been to allen and sons, probably a good place to start, but I see various recommendations here.
To throw in a twist, I've heard beasley's is good for fried chicken, if the q situation is not great, am I better off there? I find this is the case in charlotte where I often find myself at price's if I'm too tired to make the drive to lex.
