All over the city today, restaurants were charging $3-5 for a sidewalk tasting off their lunch menus. Just got back from a lunchtime stroll to the Restaurant Day offering at D'Artagnan on 46th Street. There, I had the most delicious Basque chicken salad.
It seemed to be made up of chopped white meat chicken, tomatoes, sweet roasted peppers, olive oil and onions. Very light, with a lingering sweetness (I think that was the peppers). D'Artagnan served it on romaine with a chewy slice of country bread to sop up the juices with.
So here's my question. Is this an actual Basque specialty, or did they just use Basque-style ingredients? Does anyone know where I can find the recipe?
