Some sad news to report - Barbara Tropp passed away a few days ago after an 8 year battle with cancer.
To those of you who never knew her, she was a mentor to all the young chefs whom she took under her wing. My life was positively impacted as a result and I am richer for the experience of having known and worked with her.
To those that only knew her by her restaurant (China Moon Cafe - closed), she was the Mother of Fusion Cuisine and "Tropp-azoids" flocked in for her Buddha Buns, Eggplant Caviar and other delectables.
She will be missed by all but, in true BT style, she asked that all of her friends enjoy a great bottle of champagne with some they love.
Somehow, Veuve Clicquot's La Grande Dame seems a fitting tribute.
