Banyan Garden, Union City Report

Arlene | Aug 3, 200309:18 PM

First time trying Banyan Garden in Union City after reading memorylane's review: [BROKEN LINK REMOVED]

This is a Malaysian, Singaporean, Thai Cuisine. It looks very nice, modern, but didn't like seeing the kitchen so close to the door, right across from us and the women's bathroom had an out-of-order sign.

These are the dishes we ordered, descriptions from the take-out menu:
Roti Canai-crispy Indian flat bread, served w/ a curry dipping sauce. $2.50
Very good, light, hot, and chewy. Seems everyone around us ordered it too.

Tom Yam Soup-hot and sour lemongrass soup w/ seafood & vegetables. (R.$6.95/L $9.95)
was disappointing, very bland. Hasn't very hot and barely any taste of lemongrass. wasn't my favorite

Pineapple Fried Rice-rice fried w/ pieces of pineapple, shrimp, egg, peas, raisins, cashews & spices. $6.95
tasty, fresh cashews that were very crunchy.

Green Curry Chicken-$7.95
was a little spicy, but not death spicy. Good sauce, chicken was generic though.

Thai-Style Eggplant-stir-fried eggplant dressed w/ fresh chili paste & sweet soy sauce $7.50

Malaysian Iced Tea-$2.50? don't remember the price
very sweet, like a HongKong style milk tea but sweeter.

Cost was about $40 with tax & tip for 2-plenty of leftovers.
