Recent postings regarding Bandol in Portland, have been varied. Can only report this week's experience completely exemplary -- an extraordinary meal. Not for the faint of heart -- with respect to both the wallet and the range of wonderful ingredients and course ideas -- our 9 course degustation for 8 actually ran to 13 courses and over 20 different dishes presented. All perfectly balanced, seasoned and served. In my mind, Bandol is up there with Chanterelle, Chez Panisse and (of dear memory) Lespinasse as one of the great restaurants in the US. Get yourself there.
