I noticed a few weeks ago that a sign saying "Lakon Paris Patisserie" had come up where a small New York coffeeshop, Stacks Espresso Bar, had been, on the corner of Lincoln and Walnut streets in Newton Highlands. Apparently Lakon opened a week ago. The patissiere says she is from Thailand (where the internet says she opened a bakery of the same name a few years ago, which is still there), though trained in France. Pastries are very pretty and tasty. I ordered a chocolate macadamia cake which was fudgy, a strawberry yogurt cake which was nice and light (it was a mousse cake), and the tiramisu which is coated in a thin layer of chocolate (not traditional, but I'm not complaining!). I'll order a drink next time; they had, besides espresso drinks, a matcha latte, rose latte, and Thai tea latte (hot or iced). They seemed to be doing good business, and were busy baking and replenishing. They seem to have even more interestingly shaped cakes sometimes, and I also didn't try the macarons or croissants.
Seems pretty brave to move here from Thailand during a pandemic and open a bakery, but I can't complain about a nice bakery in my neighborhood!
