Has anyone else been to Cinq in Larkspur?
Went for the first time Friday night and was very impressed...
Small and cozy atmosphere; great, professional, friendly service; and excellent food.
Both the wine list and the menu were small but I had my usual problem of deciding what to eat.
I started with the Foie Gras, which I had read about as being very well done there. Im not a huge fan, but I couldn't resist.
It was seared and served with carmelized onions on top of a crispy brioche round, with a small bit of a port sauce. Absolutely amazing, from the texture of the foie gras and the brioche to the combination of flavors.....I would go back just for that.
My friend got the four hog sweetwater oysters served with a mignonette and a tomato sorbet. Oysters were as fresh as could be.
I moved on to the lamb served with french lentils....the lamb, cooked to perfection and the lentils were tasty in a small bit of broth.
I had a glass of the Rochelles Cabernet/Franc blend along with it....
We finished with a cheese plate (plentiful portions of five selections) and a vanilla custard tarte topped with a homemade varlhona chocolate gelato. The tarte went well with an excellent coffee served to you in a french press.
Plenty for two people.
I can't wait til my next visit.
