Authentic Ethnic Food (any kind, any where)

quesophile | Jan 11, 2008 07:17 AM

May seem like a vague topic, but I'm looking to take my boyfriend out for a surprise birthday eating adventure next week. He loves anything that's new to him and "out-there"; he always tries the most bizarre thing on any given menu.

That being said, African and Asian are some of his favorite varieties.

We live in Brooklyn, but I'm considering renting a car for the night to go somewhere off the beaten path (Jersey, SI, LI, Queens or Bronx - anywhere).

Most important quality I'm looking for in our dining experience is authenticity. Of course, if the food's not excellent, why bother making the trek?

Thanks!
