Please, please ask your waiters to know their wines!
You are all competing with Al Di La and Blue Ribbon, where the servers know their wines backward and forward. Your servers/bartenders should at the very least know what the wines by the glass taste like ("good" is not a knowledgeable answer). Please have them offer the inquisitive customer a taste, this is simply the most professional way to answer a wine query, esp. for wines by the glass. Further, your commitment to offering your customers a taste of an inexpensive wine (maybe they'll order a bottle!) shows your commitment to and your investment your diners.
We Slopers CARE about wine: its taste, its price, its service. Please step up to the plate.
