Atlanta Downtown Southern (Non-pricey)?

Hi all,

I'm part of a bunch of folks at downtown hotels for a conference, next week. A group of about 30 will be going out Friday evening for dinner. We'd love some place Southern that we could walk to. Is that asking too much? It kind of creeps me out that that seems difficult. I've done a bit of searching and turned up: Sylvia's, Paschal's, and Mary Mac's Tea Room. But none of them is, I think, really walking distance. Sure, City Grill sounds good, but we don't have $60 each. We're poor academics.

I bet there's something on the chowhound radar that searches haven't turned up. Any ideas? And, if not, where should we go downtown that's not Southern but not corporate?

BTW: a friend and I are also up for driving for other meals, specifically Southern, Soul, and BBQ. Any advice gladly welcomed.

And if you've got any Los Angeles food questions, please ask!
