We hope to be in Asheville in mid-July and prefer restaurants where food takes precedence over decor. (No points lost if the place is attractive, but that's not essential if the food's really good.) And, we'd much prefer great regional or ethnic cooking to more chi-chi French or Italian restaurants. I've seen recommendations for Salsa and the Flying Frog, among others, and am now looking for ideas of places that are more representative of local cooking. I'd be happy to drive for an hour or so outside the city if it would be worthwhile. We're also looking for good, independent breakfast places. I've seen conflicting comments about Tupelo Honey. Also noticed a comment on the The Moose. Suggestions, please. Many thanks.
