I was hoping one or two of you might be able to steer me in the direction of a delectable apple dumpling; it's been years and years since I last had one, but a recent post on dumplings (though not of the apple variety) got me thinking about them.. and you know what that can lead to - a severe hankering! And so now.. I gotta have one!
So who makes the best in LA?
Some years back, I had a wonderful apple dumpling in Oak Glen, and also a fine one in Julian - both places known for their orchards.. but I'd like to find one (a really good one, mind you!) nearby, if possible. Somewhere in the West LA, Santa Monica, Culver City, Venice, Palms, Mar Vista area .. okay, just include the whole of the Westside at this point.. However, that said, if you know of a truly spectacular dumpling elsewhere, on the Eastside or points beyond (though not TOO far), do let me know.
I grew up in New England, in a town situated just minutes from beautiful apple orchards, where every autumn, the smell of baking apples would waft through the crisp air.. ah, that was Heaven! Coupled with a bit of caramel sauce.. just lovely. How I miss Autumns on the East Coast..
Also, if anyone happens to know where to go for fried green tomatoes on the Westside, let me know about that, too... Never had them, but I'm interested in trying them out. (I know, I know, I can make them at home, but I'd like to try them at a restaurant first).
Thanks for all your help!
