Andouille Sausage shelf life

LisaM | May 22, 200311:02 AM     2

I've invited a few friends for a jambalaya dinner tomorrow night, based on the knowledge that I had some Savoie's andouille sausage (pork, fully cooked)in the freezer from "awhile back." Well, when I took out the vacuum-sealed package yesterday a.m. to defrost it in the fridge, I noticed that the "sell by" date was June 98. Yikes!! I guess time flies. I defrosted it anyway, in the fridge, and tasted a bit of it this a.m. Tasted fine, but I am a bit concerned. I do know that it has been frozen solid for "all those years" (i.e., no thawing, then re-freezing, etc).

So, what do you hounds think? What's the shelf life on those babies? And if the vote is no, where can I get decent andouille sausage in lower Westchester (I work in Harrison and live in Tarrytown) by tomorrow?

Thanks!
