My boyfriend and I are two twenty-something year old New Yorkers doing a road trip throughout Southern Italy with stops in Giovinazzo (near Bari), the Amalfi Coast and Rome in August. We will be visiting his family in Giovinazzo for a few days so are all set for food there :) Does anyone have any recommendations for AC and Rome? We'll only be in Rome for a day and a half.
We'll be staying in Amalfi but would like to stop in Positano, Cetara, Capri, Praiano and maybe Sorrento and Pompeii. We would like a mix of no-frills, affordable, preferably non-touristy places where we can hang with locals and practice our elementary Italian and a few expensive spots (if the food is worth it). Also if anyone knows of good grocery stores where we can take bread, cheese and meats, and fresh produce on the go for our outings that would be great!
P.S. We're both adventurous eaters but love pasta, seafood and especially pasta AND seafood :)
