Alternative topping for biscotti di regina cookies?

I got the Gourmet Cookie Book for Christmas and was in the process of making their 1955 biscotti di regina cookies when I realized my sesame seeds are the roasted kind, which I am pretty sure will burn if I then bake them. My dough is chilling now. Any creative ideas for another type of topping? These cookies are very subtly flavored and will need something.
