Aliseo Update- menu expansion

Went to Aliseo last night and a few things have changed - First they no longer take reservations for parties smaller than four. Next, and most importantly their menu has greatly expanded. In addition to the origional menu of cheeses, sliced meats, salads etc. they has a "special" menu which appears seasonally based and greatly expands choices. Many more hot items - stuffed chicken breast, roast stuffed loin of pork with herbs and olives, vegetable polenta and lasagna, roast loin of lamb. String bean soup and a beet and apricot soup. There was more, but that's what I recall. We had the mushroom lasagna - excellent - not a traditional tightly layered one but loosely tiered, light sauce which focused on the mushroom flavors. Also tried the beet-apricot soup. Very interesting. A simple puree of beets poured over dollops of creamed apricot and garnished with chives. It had an almost sweet and sour effect. We also had the loin of lamb which was very tender and herb infused and the octupus - a slightly firey stew of tomatoes, carrots, celary, tender octupus served over polenta - delicious . We ended with two espressos and a ricotta tarte. We both thought the dishes very well executed, very origional and tasting of Italy. We will defintely return again.
