There are lots of restaurants in Alex Bay. The vibe at The Spot was inviting. Outdoor seating on the main drag, a big shady tree, paved stone patio, flanked by an old stone building and an old neon sign complete with arrow that says HOMESTEAD from the original restaurant. The menu was just the right length, with salads, pizza and panini.
We ordered Thai Chicken Pizza and a BLT Panini. Both were cooked perfectly and had the right combinations of textures and flavors. The Thai Chicken Pizza had spicy sweet sauce, diced chicken, a blend of cheeses, and was served with a crunchy Asian Slaw. It was delicious and worth a return trip.
The owner explained that they opened a week ago. The small storefront with the big sign is for this season. The plan is to expand the business into the stone building and add a winery and possibly a Christmas gift shop. Right now local cheese and souvenirs are for sale in the small storefront, or stop in at their other business, Lil River Fudge Company for dessert.
Definitely check out The Spot.
