Run, don't walk to this place. Or fly if that's the
best way of getting there.
This is a small northern Chinese dim-sum place in a
mall in Rockville. The menu is large and the food is
wonderful and inexpensive.
It can get crowded, so there might be a wait for a
table. I doubt that they take reservations.
The clientele is mostly Chinese, but the same menu is
available to both Chinese and non-Chinese eaters. For
those of us who don't read Chinese, you circle your
requests on a paper menu and then get some very good
There are a number of categories on the menu: noodle
dishes, soups, cold dishes, pastry type things and
plain congee for the ascetics amongst us.
Not everything was to my taste. The boiled peanuts
were nothing to write home about and the corn and
millet congee was pretty plain.
Their wontons are the best I have ever had.
If I lived in the area I would go through the menu in
methodical numerical order, and thus try everything.
as it is I am in the area once a year (to run a music
workshop) and have to limit my visits.
To give my creditials for this little review: I'm
Jewish and grew up in the Bronx, lived on the West Side
, and worked near Chinatown. Now I live in glamorous
Trenton, NJ, but still love good food.
