Agave Brunch...I am missing something?

offthebeatenpath1 | Mar 17, 2008 09:45 AM

I went to Agave for brunch on Sunday since Citysearch (which I find somewhat reputable, although off at times) calls it the best brunch in the city. Of course, I don't expect for these ranking to be official in any way, but I was thoroughly disappointed. I wouldn't even rate this in my top 50.

We started with the gaucamole appetizer, which was very easily distinguishable as write out of a package and completely terrible. It was undersalted and spiced and the avocados were of terrible quality.

We ordered coffee, which never came, and instead, they brought us our drinks (which came with the egg dishes), which we asked to come with the main course so we could have our coffee first.

I had teh three egg scramble, with ham, sweet peppers (which were terrible underripened holland peppers) and mushrooms (which were huge chunks of uncut mushrooms that weren't sauteed first). Along with it came potatoes that were now overspiced and undercooked. I could have made a better breakfast in under 10 minutes in my house. My dining mate had huevos rancheros, which were also just very poor quality.

Now, maybe this place is so popular because of margaritas, but there are far better places with same quality margaritas and much, much better food. The service was poor and the food was unfresh. I wouldn't go back.
