Abacus...disappointing meal

Haven't been back to Abacus in over a year, but went last week and must say we were disappointed with the food. First, (IMO) a restaurant that charges $12 for spinach salad, $15 for app. and $28-$35 for entrees should be able to send an amuse (or bread) instead of letting you sit there 30 minutes before you get your first bite of anything.
The first course, cream of mushroom soup (looked like mushroom) was inedible, very medicinal in flavor with a bizarre rancid oil floating on top (took two bites, probably the worst soup I have ever eaten) waiter never questioned why not eaten. Next came a lackluster caesar ($10) which I have had better at Macaroni Grill for a couple of bucks. For entree, Mahi mahi with a Thai red curry stir fry ($30) the flavor from the sauce completely overpowered the saltless, properly cooked fish and reminded me of something from an inexpensive neighborhood Thai place. No balance or subtlety going on here. Wife had Mongolian Duck pot stickers app., said they were o.k. Good bread basket, passed on dessert. Tab: 1 entree, 2 salads, 1 soup, 1 app., 2 glasses of chard.= $103 before tip. Won't be hurrying back.
