No. 9 Park and 28 Degrees - reviews

Last weekend I ventured to Boston with one of my good friends to celebrate my birthday and have a couple of meals. Friday night we went to 28 degrees and Saturday we went to No. 9 Park (very different places obviously but that was our objective!) I've included brief descriptions of the two restuarants but I also JUST started a blog - so please click the link and check it out if you want more indepth descriptions! I also have some pictures posted but I'm still learning about food photography - so bare with me!

28 Degrees is quite a scene - more a trendy bar than anything else, but I was not disapointed by the food (or the reasonable prices)! The service was quick and friendly and while the music is quite loud, we found it possible to talk over. We split the grilled bread, the fried calamari, the crab martini, the arugula salad, the grilled asparagus, and the strawberries and cream dessert. Everything was flavored well and not over cooked or greesy. I would say if you go- the calamari and the grilled asparagus are both musts and just to warn you the asparagus is a large portion so save room!

No. 9 Park lived up to it's positive reviews. I was blown away by the level of service (so friendly and warm even to two female diners), and the food definitely held it's own. I had the infamous prune stuff gnocchi which I LOVED and my friend had the duet of crab which was perfectly good but not up to par with my pasta! Our mains (the lamb and halibut) were very well executed, but I wasn't blown away. I don't have any complaints, but no raves either. My dessert however was fantastic. Since the cheesecake wasn't on the menu that night I went with the Cafe con leche mille-feuille which was AMAZING! Seriously worth every single of it's millions of calories.
Thanks for all of your recommendations and restaurant advice - it was a great birthday!!
